Baby Te is here!

So most of you know, the reason there was no 39 weeks baby bump picture is because baby Te decided to come a week early. Williams "Wills" Carvajal Te was born on Sunday July 24th at 9:55 am. He weighed in at 7 lbs 11 oz (the same weight as me) and 21 inches long. Longer than both his daddy and I. We were only 20 inches long. I am planning to do a post detailing our birth story, but today this is just a quick introduction to our new series, monthly pictures of Wills.

Here is Wills at 0 months old!

Kohlrabi Apple Slaw

So last week at the farmer's market I was given a freebie vegetable.

That is a kohlrabi. I had no idea what it was or what to do with it, but I was determined to not let it go to waste. After googling some options, I decided on a kohlrabi apple slaw. I used this recipe from Shiny Cooking.

Here is what you need to make it.

I made two modifications to this recipe. It is supposed to be equal parts kohlrabi and apple, but I was really nervous about it, so I doubled the apples. I also switched out greek yogurt for plain yogurt.

The final product:

The verdict is it is actually really good. Charles really liked it too. Kohlrabi is a lot like jicama, not a lot of flavor, but a good crunchy texture. If I make it again, I will definitely keep the changes I made.

37 weeks

There was no baby bump post last week because I was just too lazy to do it. I am glad though because we were a watermelon last week and we are still a watermelon this week. 19 to 22 inches and 6.5 lbs.

We have started weekly appointments. At the last one I was told there was thinning, but we aren't dilated. My next appointment is this coming Friday.

Nursery Reveal

Baby Te's Nursery!

Wall Color: Rapture Blue, Sherwin-Williams
Furniture: JC Penney
Bean Bag Ottoman: TJ Maxx (from when Charles was in medical school)
Bedding: Dwell Studio, bought from Albee Baby
Light Fixture: CB2
Owl Always Love You art: Custom made by Summer Shook
Wall Decal: Little Bird Wall Art, Etsy
Please and Thank You Print: Children Inspire Design, Zulily
ABC print, laundry pail, diaper pail: Target
Recliner: Best Chairs from Rice Furniture in AR (It was about $150 less than if we had bought it in OKC)
Growth Chart: Made by Me!

I am really pleased with the way the nursery turned out. I am super proud of the growth chart. I looked all over for one that was simple with giant numbers on it. Surprisingly difficult, especially when you don't want to pay $50 for one. If any of you ladies with little ones would like one, let me know. I sort of over bought on the fabric :)
