Ephram at Five months

So month 5 did not bring the healthy baby we were all hoping for. Ephram had his first ear infection and couldn't get his shots at his well child visit because he wasn't well. We also just finished a week of steroids and inhaler because he has been wheezing and coughing again. Hopefully this will take care of it. I am really praying for a healthy baby over the next month. It is just so hard to see him miserable when you can't do much for him. I also think the steroids make him a little nuts. He has been extra clingy over the last week and you can forget about not holding him from about 4pm until bedtime. Makes cooking dinner and getting anything else done pretty difficult!

So Ephram is still in his room for most of the night. He likes to wake up between 4am and 6am and depending on how tired I am (which is usually pretty tired), he gets moved into bed with us. He then goes back to sleep until at least 7:30 and sometimes even until 8. I am not sure how to break him of this wake up. We are still swaddling him, but he is consistently breaking loose and our swaddles aren't fitting great anymore, so this may be the end of the road for that. I am fearful his sleep will take a turn for the worse. Wills' didn't, so maybe he will follow in big brother's footsteps?

Poor guy hasn't been quite as happy this month. I know he is probably worn out from all the sickness and I am sure the steroids he has been on can alter his mood some. He has been super snugly, which I remind myself to enjoy because I know it will not last long. He officially likes getting his scar massaged now. The grins and coos are such a nice change from the screaming and crying!

He still loves watching his brother. If Wills is in his line of sight he is usually pretty content. Other than the 4 hours in the evening that you can't put him down, he does really love his excersaucer and his activity mat. He isn't a huge fan of the stroller, probably because we have worn him more than anything. He is getting better with it now that we can sit him up more and he can see Wills beside him and whatever is going on around him. He still prefers to be in the baby carrier though.

Brothers side by side:

Wills continues to improve with his attitude towards Ephram and I occasionally get glimpses of how great things will be when they get to actually play together. We have had some funny moments with the two of them this month too. On our way home from swim lessons, Ephram was crying. Wills looked over at him and said "Ephram...Seriously?!?". It was really hard not to laugh. Also, the boys and I were on the couch together and I had Ephram facing Wills. For some reason, Wills decided it would be a good idea to stick his foot in Ephram's mouth. Ephram did not mind at all. I could not contain the laughter on this one!
