Seven Months

Wills is now seven months old. I can't believe how quickly he is growing. He has turned into a real wiggle worm and getting snuggles from him has become a treat because it is so rare. He isn't crawling yet, but he has become quite good at scooting backwards. He is especially quick when you let him do it on the hardwood floors. He has also become a big fan of Holly. She loves him too, just maybe not quiet as much. He gives her kisses regularly. Unfortunately his version of a kiss is open mouth with his tongue out.

Wills is still such an amazing sleeper. We are so thankful. We have discovered that if his afternoon nap is anything less than 2 hours, a cat nap is needed to make it to our 8 o'clock bedtime. We have had him on a pretty strict schedule since I went back to work and recently have tried to be a little more flexible regarding our evening routine and bedtime. He is a pretty social little guy and likes to be out and his schedule was limiting this. So far he has adjusted beautifully to any changes. We just try not to do it more than once a week.

He is still drooling quite a bit and we still don't have any teeth!!! He is loving eating solid foods and is really interested in anything that Charles or I are eating. He is super quick too and has grabbed things off our plates before we even realize it. He is eating solids three times a day in addition to his formula. He has a grain and a fruit/vegetable at each meal. He has now added sweet potatoes, peas, apples, bananas, rice cereal, oat cereal, nectarines, pumpkin, peaches, yellow squash, carrots, and yogurt to his diet. He is a great eater and finishes everything we give him.

Seven Month Stats:

Six Months

We turned 6 months and things sure have changed in the last month. Our little guy is so wiggly. He loves to move. It was a lot harder this month to get a standard photo than in previous months

We are still sleeping through the night. He is still napping well, however his evening cat nap may be on the way out. Some nights he needs it and other nights he doesn't. He did have two days last week that he decided 5:30 am was the new wake up time. Luckily he worked it out and we are back to the 7:45 am wake up time.

If you look closely in the picture above, you can see a string of drool. The drool is still happening in large quantities and no teeth yet! Wills' diet changed pretty significantly this month. After a very difficult road with breastfeeding and only actually being able to keep up with his needs for about two days, I started exclusively pumping. He was getting half breast milk and half formula until about two weeks ago. I cut back on the number of times I was pumping (I had been doing it 8 times a day) and as I did this, my supply dropped even lower. It was finally so low, that it just wasn't worth the effort any more, so last week Wills had his last bottle of breast milk and is now a formula baby. We also started solids two weeks ago. We try a new food every three days. So far he has had avocado, green beans, pears, and butternut squash. The first bite of any new food catches him by surprise, but he always finishes it!

Six Month Stats:
Weight: 17 lbs, 11 oz (50th percentile)
Length: 27 1/4 inches (80th percentile)
Head: I don't usually post this, but it was in the 90th percentile this month! Hopefully that means there are a lot of smarts in that big head!
Clothing Size: 3 months and 3-6 months are gone, 6 months fit great, 6-9 months are a little loose but wearable
Nicknames: Buddy, Buster, pumpkin
Must haves: Still fans of our hands and feet and Sophie the giraffe, new this month is his carrot
Milestones:
December 25 First Christmas and rolled over for the first time (tummy to back)
December 31 Rolled the other way (back to tummy)
January 14 First solid
January 20 Sitting up on our own

Avocado!!

Since Wills is on the verge of his 6 month birthday and he has been so interested in mommy and daddy's food lately, we decided to go ahead and start solids. I know most people start with cereal, but I had done a lot of research and talked to our pediatrician and nothing says that cereal is what you have to start with. So we decided to start with avocado, one of my favorites!

He seems to be a big fan. His daddy has chosen green beans as our next food. Hopefully he will like it just as much.

Santa

We took Wills to Northpark mall on December 17th to meet Santa. We had to wait a little over half an hour so by the time we got to see Santa, Wills was kind of done. There were no tears though, so we consider it a win!

Five Months

So our little guy has turned 5 months old and he is just amazing. He is such a good baby and is so laid back. He definitely gets that from Charles. He is usually only upset when he is hungry. I think he gets that from me!

I am so happy to report that we turned a corner on the napping. Wills now consistently takes 3 naps a day. One for about an hour in the morning, a one to two hour nap in the afternoon and a little cat nap in the evening. He is also still sleeping from 8:30 to 7:30. It is so nice having a child that apparently likes to sleep as much as his parents do!

We are still drooling like crazy. We went shopping the other day and I was wearing him in the moby. I stood still for a few minutes and I swear he left a puddle of drool on the floor! His new favorite toys right now are his own hands and feet. He loves to put his entire hand in his mouth and is trying so hard to get one of his feet in there too. He hasn't quite accomplished that yet.

Five Month Stats:
Weight: 16 lbs
Length: He is to hard to measure ourselves. We go to the doctor next month, so we will have an official measurement then.
