Charles and Holly

Holly is the first pet Charles has ever had. We have decided that it is probably a good thing he didn't have a dog when he was a little boy because he really likes to harass her now. I can't imagine what he would have done to her as a kid.

Here a just a couple of examples:
Holly in a box

He tried to put the lid on it and she totally freaked out.

And one of Charles' favorite activities, carrying Holly around.
You can tell she really enjoys this

Thank goodness he isn't a 10 year old boy anymore (for many reasons). Who knows what he would have done to her!

Stupid Squirrels

One of the best and worst things about our new neighborhood is all the trees. Best because they are beautiful and worst because they are the homes to pesky squirrels. I never had a problem with squirrels until this year.

This year, they attacked my pumpkins!

It started with just a little nibble

And then they got down to business

If anyone has a suggestion on how to prevent this next year, I would really appreciate it!

Joys of owning a home

So less than a month after we had been in our house we discovered a slab leak! The worst part was that we had to turn on and off the hot water every time we wanted to take a shower. It was so inconvenient.

Here is the repair process

Here is how we tried to make this fun

We put Holly's paw in it too, but it didn't work out so well

We had to stay off of it for 72 hours, so here is our barrier to block Holly

The crazy part is, the hole in the pipe was about the size of a pin head. So tiny it wouldn't even show up in a picture! The silver lining is that we are getting all new floors because they couldn't find an exact match. That fun process, which could take up to four days, starts December 6th.

Carrie Underwood

My mom loves Carrie Underwood. So much, that when she was on American Idol my mom would call to tell me to vote for her. I have never watched American Idol, but I called and did it anyway. Carrie is from Oklahoma and used to perform at the Arkansas/Oklahoma State Fair in Fort Smith. My mom hasn't seen her perform live since then, and that was several years ago. Carrie actually had Oklahoma City on her tour schedule this year, so my sister and I bought tickets for us and my mom. We gave them to her for her birthday and she was really excited. She just had to wait four months to get to use them though.

Below are some pictrues frome the concert.

Billy Currington opened for her. I just love him!

She is a great performer and has an amazing voice. I will say I was a little disappointed in the wardrobe. She usually has such great clothes. I did take a picture of every wardrobe change.

I took some video, but for some reason I can't get it to upload. I'll try again another day.

We had so much fun. I would definitely go see her again.

Never thought I would say this

but I am actually super excited to be doing laundry!

We moved into our house just over a month ago and our washer and dryer just got installed on Sunday. That is a whole lot of laundry piled up!

We ordered our washer and dryer and they actually came in the day we moved to the new house. However we decided we wanted to buy the pedestals for them too, and the did not come in until last week. So Sunday night when we got back into town from Arkansas, Charles and I hooked them up. It was not a smooth process and took us way longer than we had anticipated. I think this was my fault. At mass that morning I had prayed for our marriage to be strengthened. I think God was giving us an opportunity to test that =)

We finally got them installed a few hours later. Here they are in all their fabulousness!

So creative

Our wedding was over a year ago, but I still love looking at new trends in weddings. I still read the wedding blogs I read when planning my own our wedding and today I saw the most creative idea for a guest book. I really wish we had thought of this or seen it before ours.

It's a dictionary! They had their guests choose a word and then sign their name beside the word they chose. How cute is that?

Pumpkins

Halloween is this weekend. If you know me, you know how much I LOVE Halloween. I carve/decorate pumpkins every year. There is one that I like to make that is my favorite. It looks like Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas. It's easy to make and doesn't seem to go bad as quickly as a traditional carved pumpkin.

Charles decided to get in on the action of carving a traditional pumpkin. We used one of those pattern books and picked one of the easiest ones to do. I didn't want to do a difficult one since Halloween was this weekend.

Here are our two pumpkins:

The traditional carved pumpkin doesn't look so hot during the day, but I think its cute at night.

Hope every one has a fun and safe Halloween!
