Redbud Classic

We did the Redbud Classic yesterday. Charles ran the 10k and Wills and I did the 2 mile stroller derby. Charles finished his 10k in just over 53 minutes. We finished the stroller derby in just over 40 minutes =)

Wills, Stella, and Blaine with some of the Thunder Girls. He is really checking her out isn't he?

Stella, Blaine, and Wills in their strollers ready to go!

After the race with their completion medals. I just want to point out that the medal is the same regardless of if you did the 10k or the stroller derby. That just doesn't seem right to me!

The Redbud Classic was a lot of fun. I am sure the beer and donuts at the finish line helped! It was right during afternoon nap though, and I guess Wills thought the sights were too exciting and he completely skipped his afternoon nap. Luckily he did take about an hour nap after we got home.

We are now prepped and ready to go cheer Charles on in 2 weeks when he does the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon relay!

Easter 2012

We took Wills to see the Easter Bunny on Saturday night. Nothing like waiting till the last minute. Since we waited until so late in the day, we had to take him to see the Penn Square mall Easter Bunny. Needless to say, he is significantly more expensive than the Northpark one. We will try to be a little more on top of things next year so we aren't paying $20 for a picture! It was essentially a repeat of Santa. No tears, but no smiles either.

This morning we got up to see what the Easter Bunny had brought us. Books, a couple of toys, some clothes, a new plate and some Easter eggs we colored Saturday. And when I say we, I mean me. Wills was an excellent observer though. And big thanks to Grammy and Aunt Sara for helping us fill out his basket.

After breakfast, we put on our Sunday best and headed to church with Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Janice. Wills does amazingly well at mass. He took a 45 minute nap in his daddy's arms and then was happy and quiet for the rest of the service.

After church we headed to Ingrid's for brunch. It was so yummy. Wills practiced his pincer grasp on some blueberries which kept him fully occupied for the rest of us to get plate after plate of tasty food. We got home a little after 2 and all of us promptly took a nap.

Looking forward to next year when we will actually get to hunt some Easter eggs!

Eight Months

We have made it to eight months! Wills is growing so fast. Every time we tell people how old he is they always remark that he is a big boy. Charles even mentioned the other day that he is getting chunky. I am sure once he starts crawling that will change some. He still scoots backwards and now he gets up on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth. He just hasn't quite figured out what to do next.
His night time sleeping is still going great. He has completely given up his evening cat nap. This is bad because he has also decided that his afternoon nap only needs to be 30-45 minutes. This leads to some super fussy evenings and falling asleep while eating. I am trying to figure out how to get him to nap longer in the afternoon, but so far no luck. Suggestions would be appreciated!

Still no teeth!! Luckily this doesn't stop him from eating like a champ. We have added a protein for breakfast and lunch in addition to our grain and fruit/vegetable. New foods this month include plums, zucchini, parsnips, tofu, lentils, black beans, egg yolk, and regular oatmeal and rice. For those of you concerned that I will be turning him into a vegetarian, we will be adding meat to his diet at some point this month.

Eight Month Stats:
Weight: 19.8 lbs
Length: we didn't even try this month, he is too wiggly!
Clothing Size: 6 month tops still fit but the pants are too short. 9 months are still the best fit
Nicknames: Buddy, Buster, pumpkin
Must haves: Sophie the giraffe, his carrot, board books, new this month is his basketball
Milestones:
February 29 Waved (Charles insists this was a fluke and he might be right because it has only happened twice since then)
March 4 Sat in high chair at a restaurant
March 12 Swinging at the park
March 14 Rode in a shopping cart like a big boy

Baby Plan Photos

So we got Wills signed up for a baby plan with Kristi at 3 Blessings Photography. What this means is that she does photos for him as a newborn as well as at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months. We did our 6 month session at the end of February (so he was really 7 months). Wills did a great job. We even took Holly and had some family photos made. Haircut

When Wills was about 3 months old he had a mullet hairstyle going on. I just couldn't take it any more, so we got Charles' clippers out and buzzed his hair. A couple of weeks ago, his hair had become quite long and very uneven, so we decided it was time to buzz again. This time I remembered to take before and after photos.

Before

All his hair

After

I like buzzing his hair off for two reasons. The first is that it makes him look more like a baby (I am so not ready for him to grow up!) and the second is that it gives him the same hairstyle as his daddy.

Seven Months

Wills is now seven months old. I can't believe how quickly he is growing. He has turned into a real wiggle worm and getting snuggles from him has become a treat because it is so rare. He isn't crawling yet, but he has become quite good at scooting backwards. He is especially quick when you let him do it on the hardwood floors. He has also become a big fan of Holly. She loves him too, just maybe not quiet as much. He gives her kisses regularly. Unfortunately his version of a kiss is open mouth with his tongue out.

Wills is still such an amazing sleeper. We are so thankful. We have discovered that if his afternoon nap is anything less than 2 hours, a cat nap is needed to make it to our 8 o'clock bedtime. We have had him on a pretty strict schedule since I went back to work and recently have tried to be a little more flexible regarding our evening routine and bedtime. He is a pretty social little guy and likes to be out and his schedule was limiting this. So far he has adjusted beautifully to any changes. We just try not to do it more than once a week.

He is still drooling quite a bit and we still don't have any teeth!!! He is loving eating solid foods and is really interested in anything that Charles or I are eating. He is super quick too and has grabbed things off our plates before we even realize it. He is eating solids three times a day in addition to his formula. He has a grain and a fruit/vegetable at each meal. He has now added sweet potatoes, peas, apples, bananas, rice cereal, oat cereal, nectarines, pumpkin, peaches, yellow squash, carrots, and yogurt to his diet. He is a great eater and finishes everything we give him.

Seven Month Stats:
Weight: 19 lbs
Length: around 28 inches
Clothing Size: 6 month tops still fit, some pants do, but most are getting a little too short. 9 months are a little loose, but the length is good
Nicknames: Buddy, Buster, pumpkin
Must haves: Sophie the giraffe, his carrot, board books
Milestones:
January 27 Foot in his mouth
January 30 Scooting backwards
February 3 Trip to Stillwater to visit Holly in the ICU
February 13 First Snow
